Description

The 'Honey White' Nemesia is a new variety that stands out for its neat, compact habit, excellent performance in cool weather, and endless flowering, which lasts from early spring until the first frost. Its white corollas with yellow hearts, which give off a pleasant fragrance in the afternoon, attract numerous pollinating insects while creating a beautiful cloud effect in hanging baskets and containers. Its well-branched growth gives it good resistance to adverse weather conditions. It should be placed in a gently sunny location, in fertile and well-drained soil.

The Nemesia strumosa, also known as African Nemesia, is a perennial plant in the Scrophulariaceae family, native to South Africa, which grows rapidly. Its low frost resistance means that it is commonly cultivated as an annual. It has given rise to numerous varieties, constantly improving its flowering and performance. The 'Honey White' cultivar is one of these fantastic new creations, offering almost continuous flowering on well-branched, upright plants.

The 'Honey White' Nemesia produces a multitude of small symmetrical flowers, white, with a golden yellow throat that can be seen from afar. They give off a light, pleasant fragrance that attracts pollinating insects. Gathered at the end of strong, branched and leafy stems, these flowers appear to float on a graceful tuft of 25-30 cm (9.8 - 11.8 in) in all directions, with a dense, rounded and upright habit. The vibrant green foliage consists of small, deeply-toothed lanceolate leaves. This plant is hardy down to about -3°C/ 26.6°F.

From the early days of spring, the vibrant or pastel colours of nemesias brighten up the flowerbeds of our towns and villages. On our terraces and in our gardens, with their extremely graceful habit, both dense and dainty, these plants, like a breath of fresh air, are perfect for hanging baskets, balconies, all types of containers, and even perennial borders, preferably in full sun. They are easy to grow in the garden and produce spectacular results when planted in containers. Use them also as edging, in colour mixes, or in combination with geraniums, lobelias, verbenas, petunias, etc...

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C/57.2°F for a few weeks before placing them outside once the risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Honey White' nemesias in a sunny position or possibly in partial shade. They need a light, fertile and humus-rich soil and appreciate a little fertilizer. They do not do well hot, humid conditions. You can plant nemesias in beds or pots. When in pots, these young plants need to be watered regularly. Planting should be done after the last frosts, in spring. In summer, during periods of intense heat,  the plant can be pruned severely (to 10-15 cm (3.9 - 5.9 in) from the base) between flowerings to encourage new flower shoots.
