Description

This Surfinia Petunia forms a true cascade of large pale pink double flowers from June to October.

Recently obtained Surfinia petunias, are remarkable for their size, 40 cm (16in), much larger than that of their traditional cousins. They are resistant to drought and heat and like sunny situations.

Supplied as growing plants measuring 4 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in 5 small plugs measuring 2.8 cm (1in) in diameter and 4 cm (2in) high. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and strong enough to be planted in the soil.

Note: Attention, our plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelters (veranda, greenhouse, frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (surfinia petunias tolerate a small late frost). In the meantime, you can grow them on in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Plant your petunias in a sunny location sheltered from the wind. They need light and humus-bearing, well-draining soil. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well but will need regular watering during hot summer weather. They are floriferous and fast-growing, hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with liquid fertiliser once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear, to keep them looking good and extend the flowering period.
