Description
The 'Ile de France' Tulip embodies the elegance of single flowers in pure colours. Appreciated by gardeners for the intensity of its cardinal red hue, this refined tulip, with its narrow corolla perched on a slender and sturdy stem, brings dynamism to any flower bed without losing its brilliance under the sun. Simply grandiose, it blooms in the middle of the tulip season, in the heart of spring, depending on the climate.
The 'Ile de France' Tulip belongs to the Liliaceae family. Originating from horticulture and bred in 2001, it is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, whose main characteristic is the presentation of narrow cup-shaped flowers. Perched on stems 45cm (18in) tall, well above the broadly lanceolate leaves, which are a vibrant green, the elegant flowers are intensely red, perfectly uniform, satin-like, somewhat square at the base but with a narrow cup shape. They are carried by very sturdy stems, unaffected by inclement weather. Flowering takes place in April-May.
The 'Ile de France' triumph tulip finds its place in large flower beds. Its pure colour allows for combinations with tulips in white or pink tones, creating a beautiful contrast. Pair it with forget-me-nots, daffodils, jonquils, hyacinths or even Corsican Hellebores and Euphorbias, and you will create stunning scenes. It can also be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. This tulip also enhances balconies and terraces beautifully. It is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. When using it in a vase, use very little water, just a small amount is enough! Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day.

Planting and care
Plant the 'Ile de France' Triumph Tulip bulbs in the autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15cm (6in), spacing them 10cm (4in) apart. The planting should be done in ordinary soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-drained. Never add undecomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. The 'Unique de France' tulip will thrive in moist to dry soil in the summer. Plant it in a good, sunny or partially shaded location. Once the flowering is over, it is preferable to remove the fruits to avoid exhausting the plant.
