I am a bit disappointed with the young plants, I have planted them but should I leave them in their pot for a bit longer, they are so small... Thank you.

Description

'Cirrus' Mealy Sage produces large spikes of white flowers on grey foliage. It can be grown in a pot, but it looks best when planted in groups among perennials in flower beds, adding a decorative touch.

It complements well with purple colours such as Buenos Aires Verbena, invigorating plants like Russian Princess Lobelia, or single pink flowers such as Pink Mist Scabiosa. It requires a bright exposure to bloom properly and can withstand drought and heat quite well.

Although often grown as an annual, it can survive as a perennial in mild climates.

Our plug plant young plants are professional products designed for experienced gardeners only. After receiving them, it's essential to repot them and store them under a sheltered area such as a veranda, greenhouse, or a cold frame. Ensure that the temperature is maintained above 14°C for a few weeks before finally planting them outdoors. This should only be done once the risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

If you want to plant your farinaceous salvias, you can plant them in the ground or in a pot. If you grow them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed, as they can tolerate a mild late frost. Meanwhile, you can pre-cultivate them in a warm and bright place in a pot to accelerate their growth.

It's best to plant salvias in a sunny location with well-draining soil. They can tolerate drought quite well but must be watered regularly without excess. Since they are very floriferous and have rapid growth, they require regular feeding. We recommend using a liquid fertiliser for containers once or twice a week during the growing season to keep them healthy.
