Description

Anemone tomentosa 'Albadura', or Tibetan Anemone, is a beautiful perennial with medium green leaves, revealing floral stems adorned with clusters of flowers in a delicate pale-pink colour with a purple-spotted heart. Perfect for mixed borders and flower beds.

These plants offer a multitude of solutions for garden landscaping. Whether it's a shady area or a rockery, there will be a Tibetan anemone to fit any requirement! With a range of colours spreading from blue to white, passing through yellow, the Tibetan anemone has it all.

'Albadura' is a perennial with a woody stump that can reach 80cm (32in) in height with a spread of 60cm (24in). Its stems, covered with a delicate fuzz, bear medium green leaves with an ovate trilobed shape. During August to October, its stems bear clusters of pale-pink flowers with 5 or 6 petals surrounding yellow stamens. Their tender colour brings some tranquility after a harsh summer and an upcoming winter.

'Albadura' is hardy. It is ideal in shaded gardens with cool, humus-bearing, and ordinary soil. In a sunny exposure, it will need moist soil.

A vigorous plant, it grows through its underground root system, sometimes at the risk of becoming invasive. It is ideal in flower beds, mixed borders, or even in the undergrowth alongside bellflowers, fuchsias, or fatsias.

Planting and care

It thrives in partial shade under tall trees. It tolerates temporary drought. In the first year, the plant develops its roots in the soil; it is only in the second year that it starts to sucker and flower properly. Mulch in winter to protect the plant. Water well during summer.
