Description

Verbena 'Endurascape Pink Fizz' is an excellent variety of garden verbena, as delightfully coloured as it is generous and robust. It is part of a new generation of hybrid verbenas selected for their exceptional endurance and vigour, as well as the vivacity of their colours, which do not fade in the sun. Easy to grow, capable of flowering for months despite heat and lack of water, this small plant also resists powdery mildew very well in humid climates. It offers bouquets of coral pink flowers in the centre, but almost white on the periphery. Grown as an annual, this pretty semi-trailing verbena may be the best for decorating patios and balconies. It is also adorable in sunny flower beds and rockeries.

Verbena 'Endurascape' belongs to the Verbenaceae family, it is a horticultural hybrid whose ancestors inhabited the warm regions of South America. In just a few months, this plant forms a compact, rounded and slightly trailing clump, rather stocky, measuring 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12in) in height, spreading about 45-50 cm (18-20in). It tirelessly produces flexible stems, which at their tips produce beautiful dense and round clusters composed of tiny coral-coloured flowers with a small white centre, reminiscent of phlox. The faded flowers eliminate themselves, minimizing plant maintenance. The foliage of this variety is a vibrant green, with leaflets wider than those of classic varieties. This perennial plant succumbs to frost, so it is cultivated as an annual in our climates, thanks to its rapid growth.

Garden verbenas are truly easy plants to cultivate, suffering more from excess water and fertiliser than from occasional neglect. They overflow from hanging baskets, slip between other upright plants in flower pots or containers, hiding their base without suffering from their presence. They are also very beautiful in rockeries, allowing you to quickly fill in spaces left empty by damage caused by a harsh winter. Create a beautiful, colourful hanging display by combining the Endurascape Hot Pink verbena with its sister Endurascape White Imp with white flowers, a Heavenly Blue petunia, and a Diamond Snow Euphorbia.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

Plant your Endurascape Verbenas in a sunny position. They require a light and humus-rich soil and appreciate a moderate supply of fertilizer and water. They tolerate rather dry soil in the ground. You can plant your verbenas in pots, in hanging baskets or in flower boxes. In pots, they should be watered regularly, without excess, allowing the surface to dry between two waterings. Usually grown as annuals, they are actually delicate perennials: by bringing them indoors at the first frost, you can extend their flowering during autumn and winter. Outdoor cultivation is possible by the seaside, by mulching well in winter and protecting the stump from moisture with plastic. Prune lightly in March.
