Coleus Black Prince

The Coléus Black Prince is native to Southeast Asia. In its original environment, this plant is a perennial and forms small semi-woody shrubs, but in our climate, it should be considered as an indoor plant or grown in the garden as an annual plant.

It exhibits the characteristics of plants in the Labiaceae family (which includes Common Nettle): fleshy square stems, dentate and villous leaves on the underside.

The success of the Coléus Palisandra or "Painted Nettle" is due to its magnificent foliage, which is slightly velvety and almost black in colour.

Whether in the garden or indoors, it prefers a sunny or partially shaded exposure. Plant it in soil improved with half leaf compost or compost. Ensure regular watering, but avoid excessive moisture.

Upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered area (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before placing them outdoors once the risk of frost has passed.
