The Unicorn trend comes to the garden, all in sorbet shades and soft lights. At the heart of this pastel atmosphere, the Hydrangea paniculata ‘Pixio’ forms a small shrub covered in creamy panicles that gradually take on a soft pink hue. Around it, roses display a matching palette. ‘Novalis’ bears clusters of lavender, slightly bluish corollas, reminiscent of those twilight skies washed with mauve. The floribunda rose ‘Koko Loko’ relies on creamy coffee and rosy beige, milky tones, which shades warm up over the days, joining the soft apricot tones of the stock flower ‘Classic Apricot’.
Movement is embodied in the grass Melinis ‘Silver Queen’ and its tresses topped with small silvery-pink feathery plumes, which catch the light and create a light mist above the borders. They can be paired with a few pastel perennials, such as the double primrose Belarina ‘Pink Ice’ or Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam’, to enhance this dreamlike impression.
Plant in tight masses to obtain clouds of pastel flowers, play with tonal harmonies from cream to lavender, and complete with a few soft green foliages to highlight the flowerings.
