White flowering Weigela

Our white-flowered Weigelas. Very beautiful deciduous bushes with generous flowering in late spring, weigela does not only produce pink or red flowers. Some varieties, like Weigela Candida or Snowflake, attract attention with the beauty of their white flowering. Among the 'whites', there are true hedge bushes, but also smaller weigelas (less than 1m (3ft)) like Black and White, suitable for small gardens and container gardening. With these white varieties, creativity is also expressed in the foliage which can be variegated (Weigela White Lightning) or purple in colour like Weigela florida Ebony and Ivory. Undemanding, Weigelas grow in any loose soil, including limestone, but not too dry, in sunny or semi-shaded locations. Mature size is reached in 5/6 years. The varieties presented on these pages are ideal in white gardens, as standalone plants, in free hedges or in flowerbeds. To accompany them, think of mock oranges, lilacs and white roses.
