The 'Shirley Double' tulip, which is of interest in spring, reaches a height of 50cm (20in) at maturity. Its green foliage is deciduous.

This double tulip is perfect for large flowerbeds and can be paired with other tulips to maximize the flowering period. It can also be used in borders, rockeries, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. This tulip adds beauty to balconies and terraces. It also makes lovely cut flowers. Planting and care

Place the 'Shirley Double' tulips in a sunny or partially shaded spot from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in a light and well-drained soil, loosened to a depth of 15cm (6in). Space the bulbs 10cm (4in) apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The care required is very easy. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the flower stems after flowering. Allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
