The best alstroemerias for cut flower arrangements are Peruvian lilies with long stems, abundant flowering and good vase life. These varieties flower for many weeks, from June to early autumn. They can be grown in the garden as border plants, and you can regularly cut a few stems for the house without thinning out the clump.
The varieties of the Majestic series are particularly suitable for cutting. 'Majestic Liré', 80 cm high, bears intense red flowers with a yellow heart on stems suitable for cutting. 'Majestic Aubance' offers a warmer palette in pink, salmon and yellow, with the same vigour. The variety 'Majestic Briançon' is distinguished by very pale yellow, almost white flowers, while 'Majestic Layon' is touched with salmon. These flowers look good on their own in a vase, but they also combine well with ornamental grasses, single-flowered dahlias or light foliage.

Bulbs for cut flowers will provide you with lilies, gladioli, arums or dahlias, depending on the season. Our article "Create a garden of cut flowers to make your own bouquets" will guide you on organising planting, staggering flowering and harvesting flowers at the right time without weakening the plants.
