Description

Verbena Vectura Soft Pink Eye is a new annual variety with soft pink flowers and a brighter eye. This variety has a compact and spreading habit, good drought resistance and tolerance to spring frosts, as well as early flowering.

Verbena Vectura Soft Pink Eye has a spreading and compact habit, reaching a height of 30cm (12in) and a width of 40 to 50cm (16 to 20in). It is suitable for container and hanging basket cultivation, as well as in border plantings. In spring, it produces star-shaped flowers with bifid petals in a soft pink colour that bloom until September.

This garden Verbena is appreciated for its soft colour and abundant spring flowering that lasts all summer. Easy to grow, Verbena thrives in bright exposures and is fairly resistant to drought and heat.

Green plants measuring 4 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in plug plant trays of 5 small plugs, with a diameter of 2.5cm (1in) and a height of 4cm (2in). Our plants are at least eight weeks old and strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, repot and store them in a sheltered area (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before planting them outdoors once the risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your Verveins in the ground or in a pot. If you wish to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (this hybrid tolerates small late frosts quite well). In the meantime, you can cultivate them in a warm and bright place in a pot to accelerate their growth. Plant your Verveins in a sunny location. They need well-draining soil. They tolerate drought well. Water regularly but without excess. Very floriferous and with rapid growth, they are greedy. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for containers once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and prolong flowering.
